A Sustainable Darkroom installation commissioned for Climate & Art: Alternative Approaches
16.4- 13.9.2023
Chappe Contemporary Art Museum, Ekenäs, Finland

An installation combining sculpture, moving image and photography made using low-toxicity chemistries. It mediates on new and positive ways to re-imagine analogue photographic methods that are ecologically minded.

The exhibited artworks are articulations of research undertaken by the Sustainable Darkroom, an international community of artists exploring themes of recycling and de-toxifying photo-chemistry.

The installation included moving image documentation of how the works were made, as well as a zine produced by the artists. The zine provides recipes of plant-based chemistries and photographic methods. It was the culmination of research undertaken during ORES artist residency, Oro island, Finland.

In collaboration with Hannah Fletcher & Noora Sangren.
